Keith J Connell, MBA, PhD Candidate

Keith J Connell is a full-time professor in the Design and Visual Arts department at Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario, where he teaches in the Digital Content Creation and Strategy and Business programs. His courses span data analytics, marketing, web design, web strategies, content strategy, accessibility, business communication, entrepreneurship, and project management.

His PhD research is in Educational Leadership and policy and his MBA is in Leadership and Innovation, and brings approximately thirty years of professional marketing experience to his academic practice. That convergence of industry depth and scholarly rigour defines everything he does in the boardroom, in research, and in the advisory work he undertakes through his consulting practice.

His doctoral research examines international student persistence in Ontario colleges during the post-cap period, with particular attention to the structural, social, and institutional conditions that determine whether students remain enrolled and succeed. It is work that matters to him not as an abstract scholarly exercise, but because the students in his courses represent the precise population his research is designed to understand and serve. Further, this translates to a better understanding of why attrition in the workplace happens and why employees disengage.

Change Readiness Is Not a Slogan. It Is a Practice.

Every course Keith teaches is designed around a single conviction which is that people deserve leadership and mentorship that prepares them for the professional world they are actually entering, not a simplified approximation of it. That means researching, developing and working with real tools, real constraints, real expectations, and real feedback.

Helping organizations navigate growth, change, and the AI-driven future requires more than delivering information. Keith develops strategic learning experiences that build engagement, reinforce key messages, and support behavioural change. Using realistic business scenarios, continuous case-based learning, and evidence-informed engagement strategies, he helps organizations strengthen leadership capacity, improve workforce readiness, and successfully adapt to emerging technologies and evolving market conditions.

His emphasis is always on the transferable: the strategic thinking, the professional communication, the critical media literacy that follows a graduate from one role to the next, across an entire career.

Consulting, Strategy, Learning, and Change.

Keith operates two active ventures alongside his academic work. The College Prof provides students when a universal design for learning platform. The very basis of it is to make education accessibile for everyone eliminating the typical barriers that prevent academic success. Because the platform offers the course reading material, the cost of textbooksin his class has been elimniated. The tool has a has of tools ranging from persistent highlighting, to quizzes, to podcasts and video support encourage further exploration of the content. There is even an article level chatbot where students can ask the article questions. In essence, the platform is both the teacher and the tutor.

His content creation practice spans audio, video, and photography, and he actively develops WordPress plugins and web tools for both teaching and business purposes. He is a practitioner first, which is what makes his leadership credible and his research grounded.

He is also the host of a podcast exploring the intersection of education, leadership, and the ideas that challenge how institutions think about their purpose and their people.
